Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how MegaCheck processes information when you use the app and this website.
1. Information processed
Depending on the features you use, MegaCheck may process barcode scan requests, selected dietary or allergen preferences, language and country settings, anonymous account identifiers, technical device information, diagnostic data, advertising identifiers where permitted, and purchase or subscription status.
MegaCheck does not intentionally request your full name, postal address or payment-card details. Preferences entered in the app may still be personal data when they can be linked to an account or device.
2. Product scans and unknown products
Barcodes may be sent to product-data providers or MegaCheck backend services to retrieve product information. Unknown-product requests may be stored with limited contextual information such as barcode, timestamp, language, country and request count to improve product coverage.
3. Service providers
Supabase
Supabase may provide database, authentication and backend functionality. Information processed can include anonymous user identifiers, app data and product requests. See Supabase’s Privacy Policy.
Open Food Facts
MegaCheck may retrieve food-product information from Open Food Facts. Requests may include the scanned barcode and standard technical connection data. See Open Food Facts terms and reuse information.
Google AdMob
The free version may display advertising through Google AdMob. Depending on consent, device settings and applicable law, Google may process advertising identifiers, IP address, device information, interactions with ads and approximate location derived from technical data. Advertising may be personalised or non-personalised. See Google’s Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
RevenueCat
RevenueCat is used to manage entitlements, subscriptions and in-app purchases. RevenueCat may process an app user identifier, product identifiers, purchase history, subscription status and related transaction metadata. Payment-card details are handled by Apple, not by MegaCheck or RevenueCat. See RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy.
Apple
Apple processes App Store downloads, purchases and subscriptions under its own policies. See Apple’s Privacy Policy.
4. Purposes and legal bases
Information is processed to provide requested app functions, retrieve product information, maintain subscriptions, prevent abuse, improve reliability, answer support requests and display advertising. Where required, consent is requested for advertising or similar technologies. Other processing may be necessary to perform the service or based on legitimate interests in operating and securing the app.
5. Retention
Information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the stated purposes, legal obligations, security and dispute resolution. Anonymous product-demand statistics may be retained longer where they no longer identify a user.
6. International transfers
Some providers may process information outside your country or the European Economic Area. Those providers are responsible for implementing appropriate safeguards required by applicable law.
7. Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict personal data, object to processing, withdraw consent and lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. You can also manage advertising permissions through the app, your device settings and any consent message shown.
8. Children
MegaCheck is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
9. Accuracy and health information
